Maureen Atieno Okoth

How did you start your career in aviation and how did you progress to your current role?

My journey in aviation began as an aircraft technician, where I honed my skills in understanding and maintaining aircraft systems. Over time, I transitioned into an aircraft engineer role, driven by a deep fascination with aviation and a thirst for knowledge. Each step in my career, from hands-on maintenance to overseeing operations control, has been guided by a passion for ensuring aircraft safety and readiness for flight.

What inspired you to pursue a career in aviation?

From a young age, the allure of flight captured my imagination, sparking a dream of becoming a pilot. However, financial constraints led me to explore alternative paths within aviation. Drawing upon my natural aptitude for science and mechanics, I embarked on a journey into aircraft engineering—a decision fueled by curiosity and a desire to unravel the complexities of aircraft systems. While my childhood dream of becoming a pilot remains, my career as an engineer has been incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to apply my expertise in ensuring the safety and airworthiness of aircraft.
