How does your role contribute to the overall flight mission?
My role plays a pivotal part in welcoming new team members to Vista Flight Support in Malta and Hamburg. I guide them through our systems, procedures and aviation laws, while instilling our company values. My aim is to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
What inspired you to choose aviation as a career?
My journey into aviation began unexpectedly. Despite graduating as an English teacher, I stumbled upon an opportunity in aviation and was captivated from day one. The excitement of learning something entirely new, coupled with the passion I developed along the way, led me to where I am today.
What is unique about your role and where does it fit within the business?
My role stands out for its dual focus on teaching procedures and fostering a supportive atmosphere. It is not just about imparting technical knowledge — I also focus on nurturing a sense of camaraderie and mutual support amongst team members. This contributes significantly to the vibrant and inclusive culture at Vista.
Have you found Vista supportive of your career development?
Absolutely. Vista has been incredibly supportive of my career growth from the very beginning. I have had the opportunity to evolve from an Operations Controller to a Trainer as well as explore various other roles within the company. The supportive environment at Vista has empowered me to pursue my passions and achieve my professional goals.
What advice would you give to younger women thinking about starting their career in the aviation industry?
I would tell them not to be intimidated and to embrace the opportunities available in the aviation industry. Despite any initial insecurities or doubts, women are just as capable and deserving of success in this field. The industry is evolving and more doors are opening for women every year — so, I encourage them to dive in fearlessly and see where their journey takes them.
